Huli (noun) translation: wind. Ichishkíin Sínwit/ Yakama/Yakima (literally, "(in) this language")
We chose a name from the Ichishkíin Sínwit Yakama/Yakima Sahaptin Dictionary
Sahaptin is an Indigenous language that includes a number of dialects, such as Yakima (Yakama), Warm Springs, Umatilla, and Walla Walla. Nez Perce is a closely related sister-language (Beavert & Hargus, 2009).
Welcome! We're the Allen-Lien family — Jesse, Hailey (Thx̱), Carson (Sim Sim Jr), and Ava (Thx̱ Jr) — and we're honored to introduce ourselves as the heart behind this Native-owned business.
Our Indigenous heritage includes the Yakama and Umatilla tribes. We created this shop not only to share our love for skateboarding, but also to uplift Indigenous visibility, creativity, and community.
Our children, Ava (8) and Carson (14), are growing up surrounded by Yakama tradition. In the spring of 2024, they received their Indian names in a name-giving ceremony.
Although Jesse is not Native, he stands with our family and community. He shows his respect by actively participating in our ceremonies and traditions.
We are currently seeking to collaborate with Indigenous artists and culture-bearers of all kinds! Whether you create:
we would love to feature your work in our shop and help amplify your voice!
We welcome all levels of experience and are especially excited to uplift voices from our local and regional Native communities.
